STUTTGART -- The demand for processing and compounding systems for standard and engineering plastics in China and throughout the Far East is on the steady increase. With the twin-screw technology presented at the Chinaplas (26 to 29 April 2006 in Shanghai) the Coperion Group in Stuttgart, Germany shows a strong response to these demands. Growth in the Far East is a cornerstone of the world market strategy of this corporate group. This fact was already evidenced in 2004 with the take-over of Coperion Keya, the technical and economical key manufacturer of twin-screw compounding systems in China. The next step in expanding the company's market position was the erection of the new Coperion Keya production facility in Nanjing, designed for an annual production capacity of 600 systems, which took up operation five months ago.
Coperion demonstrates German-Chinese technological alliance The most important exhibits at the Chinaplas include the compact Standard Twin Screw (STS) Compounder, a result of the intensive exchange of technical know-how between Coperion Keya and Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer. The STS Compounders are distinguished by their high capacity and comparatively low investment costs. This is achieved by a combination of standardised high-tech components with components tailored to the respective application. As a result of user-friendly overall concept, the operation, maintenance, servicing, cleaning and troubleshooting of these machines is very simple. The STS Compounders offer customised standard solutions for a number of compounding tasks. These range from processing of engineering plastics to the production of high-fill and glass fibre reinforced compounds as well as coloured masterbatch and PVC compounds and also for recycling applications. Since its launch 18 months ago Coperion has already sold more than 50 STS Compounders in the sizes STS 35 to STS 75, with more than 30 percent of these destined for the Asian-Pacific region. Coperion Keya will also be offering visitors to the shows an overview of its compounding systems to supplement and round off its presentation. The twin screw extruders of the CTE and CHE series are suitable for mixing, filling and reinforcement of various plastics. The latter is designed for high capacities and therefore features a more powerful drive unit. The special two-stage CKY and HKY systems are designed for processing PVC and cable compounds on the basis of crosslinked polyethylene. They are very suitable for delicate materials, as the first-stage twinscrew extruder is designed for gentle blending and in the second stage a single-shaft discharge extruder generates the necessary discharge pressure while protecting the melt. The HKY range is suitable for higher capacities due to its greater drive performance. All system control and monitoring systems meet the specific requirements of the Chinese market. The Coperion Group - with its affiliates Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer, Coperion Waeschle and Coperion Keya along with twenty sales and services firms - is the world's market and technology leader in compounding systems and materials handling plant engineering and design. Coperion engineers, delivers and maintains complete plants and the machinery and components used in the plastics, chemicals and foods industries. Following their initial investment five years ago, London-based West Private Equity became the sole owner of the group in March 2006. Coperion achieved consolidated sales in 2005 of 364 million euros and at the close of that year had some about 2,000 employees worldwide. Source: Coperion Holding GmbH |
