How to Improve Processability of FR V-0 PBT for Thin-Walled Parts such as Connectors?

One major trend in the electrical industry is to produce complex connectors with thin-wall parts, which requires resins with high flow for better processability. Flame retardants are typically added to the formulation because of safety and regulation concerns. These flame retardants in turn can cause problems with processing and lead to flow issues with the resin. What is needed is a specially designed flame retardant which allows the resin to keep its high flow and good processability.

(1)High performance brominated FR with high flow, mechanical properties

Thanks to its specific structure Saytex PBT-620 exhibits excellent compatibility with polybutylene terephtalate (PBT) and does not bloom. Its high bromine content makes it a very efficient flame retardant additive.
Saytex PBT-620 is not only a highly efficient FR, it also exhibits excellent flow (figure 1), excellent mechanical properties and high thermal stability. This unique combination of performances makes it perfect for thin-wall, complex-geometry parts, such as electrical connectors.

(2)Improved color and thermal stability

The figure below shows that Saytex PBT-620 is far more resistant to yellowing at high temperatures compared to competitive products commonly used in PBT, like . 1BCO( Brominated carbonate oligomer),
BEO( Brominated epoxy oligomer), PPBA( Poly(pentabromobenzyl acrylate)), PBS( Polybrominated styrenics).

目前电气产品工业的一个主要的趋势就是生产复杂结构的薄壁连接件,这就要求聚合物具有很好的流动性能以利于加工。出于安全方面的考虑,以及要符合相关的标准,在考虑配方时必须要加入阻燃剂。而这些阻燃剂将会影响树脂的流动性而导致加工方面的问题。我们迫切的需要一种特殊设计的能够保证熔体流动性能和材料加工性能的阻燃剂。

a)具有高流动性能,优异机械性能的溴化玻纤(FR)

Saytex PBT-620的特殊结构使其与PBT有优异的兼容性而不会使产品表面起霜。高含量的溴组份使其成为一种高效的阻燃剂。然而,Saytex PBT-620并不仅仅是一种高效的阻燃剂,它同样具有高流动性(图1)、优异的机械性能和热稳定性。这种独特的性能组合使其特别适合用于具有复杂几何结构的薄壁制品,如电气连接件等。

b)改善的热稳定性和颜色稳定性

下图显示在高温环境下Saytex PBT-620的耐黄色化性能远远的优于其它普遍应用于PBT中的竞争产品,如1BCO(溴化碳酸盐低聚物),BEO(溴化环氧低聚物), PPBA( 聚五溴苯化丙烯酸盐), PBS( 聚多溴化苯乙烯).

Saytex PBT-620价格:75元/Kg,性能再好也用不起(比溴化环氧整整贵了4W)!!!
